UH Fest returns in October, and here is the full programme
After last year's online programming, UH Fest is going physical again between 4th and 10th October. The 2021 edition of the festival is set to take place in four venues of Budapest between 4th and 10th October, highlighting again the effort to cross-pollinate and connect the local and international scenes with unconventional live performances and adventurous music happenings after last year's cancellations and online programmes.

UH Fest opens with a performance of avantgarde legend and sound poetry pioneer Katalin Ladik, then premieres an intergenerational collaboration between Tibor Szemző, key figure of four decades of Hungarian experimental music, and media artist/electronic musician Ábris Gryllus.
We present Authentically Plastic, renegade queer dj of techno, vogue, gqom and acidic Afrofuturism, founder of the Anti-Mass parties in Kampala, Uganda; Käbakö and Sniccer, two local resident/activists of feminist party series and collective Fuck The Roles; sound and noise artist, impro-lyricist Elvin Brandhi; Night School and Editions Mego affiliated Finnish electronica and abstract pop artist Cucina Povera; American noise legend John Wiese; Lahmacun radio host DJ Kard.
Our collaboration and curational work with SHAPE Platform and the Creative Europe programme of the EU marks its seventh year: in 2021 UH Fest presents innovative new European talents in Budapest, such as Italian experimental drummer Valentina Magaletti; „rough kuduro” artist Nazar; French noise outsider Terrine and folk wanderer Loup Uberto; the brutalist trio of Freya Edmondes (Elvin Brandhi), Lukas König and Peter Kutin, called PLF, from Vienna; Portuguese queer punk melodrama-pop beatmaker Odete; Berlin-based singer-songwriter Julia Reidy.
UH Fest welcomes back Budokan Boys, the fantastic trauma-saxo-electronic-storyteller-prankster-pop duo of composer Jeff T Bird and fiction writer Michael Jeffrey Lee; free impro/r&b/postpunk trio of Still House Plants from UK; experimental vocalist, improv-collaborator and performance artist Thea Soti.
Our weekend will have risk-taking noise composer and Bug-collaborator Dis Fig; the premiere performance of local experimental trio Kamon Kardamom featuring Orsolya Kaincz, Bálint Bolcsó and Miron Labus; Bristol-based modular synth pop talent Finlay Shakespeare; Naaljos Ljom, the new project of traditional Norwegian microtonal dance music by Anders Hana and Morten Joh; the new live collaboration between Roh Yugen and Nemerov that will bring melodramatic synth and hard beats; Mystic Voip and DJ Köd of local rave collective Pénz; Norwegian wunderking of demented psychedelic song (de)constructure Gaute Granli.
During the rest of the week you can immerge into: Eric Thielemans' drumscapes; Sea Urchin's dubby spoken word hypnosis; Monoton/Monokrom's drone mapping of lake Balaton; Vanligt Folk's post-industrial outsider-ebm madness; local dj hero and superb selector Stanley Maneuver's return to live music making; Dino Spiluttini's synth empire; Simon Lazarus' videomapping installation called Unagi and Jessicunt's dj-wilderness.
